1tbsp Strikes Perfection On ‘It’s Very Loud’ EP

1tbsp is the project of Australian Grammy-nominated artist Maxwell Byrne (aka Golden Vessel) which has a sound that can be compared to a mix between Daphni, Four Tet and DJ Koze. He’s created compelling sounds that fall somewhere between deep and melodic house, and his songs have an uncanny ability to get stuck in your head.

Over the past few weeks, he’s offered up some outstanding new 1Tbsp singles – “Pioneer digital plastic sound”, “No no (with Mietze Conte)” and “Four Tet is my godmother– each encompassing their own uinque flair that sparked a lot of anticipation for their EP “It’s Very Loud”

The ep features the recent singles mentioned above alongside another gem and unreleased track, “It’s Very Loud”, which was co-written with his friend Squidgenini which was also featured on his 2022 single “Seasons”. From the intoxicating synth melodies to the trippy vocal samples, it’s safe to say they’ve almost hit perfection on this track.

“I built this around a bassline that Squidgenini played the first time we met to write. I scraped everything else we did and cut some tracklib samples. It’s sort of the B-side of the EP, and I tried to make it a bit slower burn/dubby. The main vocal on the track is that trashy pop vocal, but the way I cut it out created new lyrics that weren’t there originally, resulting in “It’s Very Loud” repeating. – 1 tbsp

Addressing the EP, he shares:

“My new EP ‘It’s Very Loud’ is about self-expression and creating music that excites me enough that I want to share it and use it in my DJ sets. It’s a concept pretty simple but sometimes other things get in the way, and I wanted to make this stronger than previous things I’ve done.
