Skrillex really launched in 2023, announcing two albums, releasing a string of singles, dropping both albums 24 hours apart, again selling out Madison Square Garden with Fred.. and Four Tet on 3 days notice – he set his intentions and knocked all out of the park.
But even before all that, Skrillex was announced for a slew of festival appearances. The first of these performed last weekend for the latest new Ultra Worldwide event in Abu Dhabi, featuring ILLENIUM, Calvin Harris, NGHTMRE, and more. For its first major festival performance of the year, we get our first real taste of what a modern new Skrillex set entails. First of all, he has tons new music, so there’s a huge amount of originals and edits in his set from this new wave of releases.
That being said, it still adds a lot of classics like ‘Agen Wida’ with JOYRYDE, ‘Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites’, ‘Bangarang’ and even some Jack Ü and Dog Blood. He also drops heaters like Juelz and W IN K, Hamdi, Knock2, Jon Casey and RUVLO. And he, of course, always ends with his iconic “Cinema” remix.
