Skrillex just surprise dropped his second album of the year from Madison Square Garden

Skrillex just released their first album in nine years, fire quest, yesterday. On the same day, he, Four Tet and Fred Again.. played an unannounced pop-up from a school bus in the middle of Times Square in New York the day before their Madison Square Garden show, which they announced three days in advance and sold out in three minutes. Just now, while the trio are literally on stage in one of the most iconic venues in the world, they surprised us all with the release of their second album, Don’t get too close.

I think I speak for all of us when I say, “Are you fucking for real right now?”

But rest assured, this is real life. With an almost decade-long album shortage, in less than 48 hours Skrillex released two new albums. Yes, some old bachelors sneak in but let’s be honest, none of us are complaining.

Compared to fire quest, Don’t get too close is much more pop and hip hop focused, with collaborators such as PinkPantheress, Trippie Redd, Yung Lean, Bladee, Kid Cudi, Chief Keef, Swae Lee, Bibi Bourelly, Justin Bieber and Don Toliver. And then there is Anthony Green, the leader of Circa Survive and Saosin? We don’t question Skrillex, we let it all happen and we’re okay with it.
